A fascination for many of us born and raised in the West is the ghost town; not just because of the history the place contains, but also, the shared connection with our very recent forebears, a testament to their constitution, resilience and determination.

But for the photographer, there’s more: cool stuff to shoot.

I’ve done a lot of work in ghost towns, photographically speaking, over the last 15 years; textures, doors, boardwalks, reflections, colors and settings are too much to resist in these places.

So, a few weeks ago when I was in Wyoming for a shoot, my assistant and I made time to make pictures in a fantastically preserved town called Jay Em.
