Recollections No. 3: Mythos

Mythos

Mythos

I hesitate to explain the philosophy behind the Recollections show, but here’s a hint: Alfred Schutz, the prominent social philosopher, notes that social experiences are constructed and shared by members of a culture. What those realities reveal presents a clue into the phenomena that underlie the very realities which they inspired.

  1. This gives me an unsettled feeling – I’ve looked at it more than once, to see if familiarity made any difference. (It doesn’t.) From a technical standpoint, I know that feeling is partly from the selective focus. But it’s more than that (or I’d be used to the image by now). It makes me question what I know to be “real” and wonder how my perceptions of reality are seen by others.
